The week in art begins on Friday, September 5th from 6-8:30pm at the Nordic Center for the opening of Weaving Ancestry by Martha Bird. "In this particular exhibition [Bird] is looking at Norwegian, Swedish, and French cultural connections in what's called Sculptural Basketry," says Annie Dugan. "The Nordic Center does a lot of other programming around the exhibitions that they do, so later on in the run of the show there will be a discussion and hands-on exhibitions as well."

Local artist Jonathan Thunder has been in the news a lot lately due to the production of the short film Ish Meets a Mermaid. "Thunder is a visual storyteller in our community, most known as a painter," says Dugan. "It's such a beautiful, natural progression of his artist career to get into time-based mediums." More information about the film and how to support the project can be found on Jonathan Thunder's website.

You can hear Where's Art every Monday morning at 8:20 on Northland Morning.
