Local Duluth artist Barry Sands met fellow artist Rita Morris over 30 years, but it was only more recently that the two teamed up, bringing their individual talents to collaborative work. "I make the pots on the wheel, and she makes all the cool images," says Sands.
For Morris, the images gravitate toward the natural; birds, animals and plants are often emblazoned on the ceramic work. "I make the ceramic canvases for her to paint on."
Work by Barry Sands and Rita Morris can be seen at the Park Point Art Fair on June 28th and 29th from 10am-5pm and also online as Burdock Ceramics. Locally, their work can be found at Siiviis Gallery in Duluth and other locations through the Northland.
