It's time to put away your snow boots and put on your little last season Prada shoes.
Denfeld High School is putting on a production of Legally Blonde: The Musical. The show is an adaptation of the 2001 film of the same name starring Reese Witherspoon. It follows the story of Elle Woods, a young and (very exaggerated) stereotypical blonde women who wants to go to become a lawyer after her law school-bound boyfriend dumps her.
Actors Jacob and Ty say that the show is a lot of fun and will be a great time for audiences, and that the musical gets much deeper with the characters and allows the audience to explore backgrounds they never got to see on the big screen.
Jacob plays Emmett (played by Luke Wilson in the film), a lawyer who is Elle's mentor and future love interest. Ty plays Professor Callahan (played by Victor Garber in the film), Elle's law professor at Harvard and the main antagonist of the show.
For Ty, Legally Blonde: The Musical is his first production as an actor. While the experience has been fun, there have been challenges with trying something new. "Just getting comfortable with trying to figure out how to act and get into the role of someone who is so opposite of my real-life personality has been a pretty big challenge," says Ty.
For veteran actor Jacob, it's the community that really drives him to be part of the production. "It's like a family. So, of course I'll be in a show, because everyone just loves you and it's a lot of fun."
Tickets are available at the door and can be purchased in advance online.
