This weekend, Friday through Sunday, is Winter Out West, an annual three-day spotlight on the western side of Duluth. Citizens all over the area are invited to participate in the festivities in this developing area.
City Councilwomen Janet Kennedy says that the wintertime can be hard to find free events and that this festival can provide a wanted relief.
"We as an organization, the Riverfront Community Development, Valley Youth Center, the West Duluth Business Club, Irving Development, and then some community members; They said, 'Let's get together and start highlighting the best assets of Duluth,' and especially in the wintertime," said Kennedy.
The goal of the event is to encourage people to explore the various neighborhoods of West Duluth, especially as new infrastructure has popped up. There are several events occurring, including cross country skiing, cornhole, and even a showing of Jumanji.
"We have really unique outdoor spaces, that are different from Eastside or even the central part of Duluth," said Kennedy.
