This Friday and Saturday, community members have the opportunity to visit the Superior Public Library for their biggest fundraising event of the year. The volunteer organization "Friends of the Library" is holding its annual book sale which supports the library and all of its programming.
"The preparation happens all year," says Leslie Mehle, the Manager of Library Programs at Superior Public Library. Community members can hunt for their favorite books at a bargain price while supporting the library.
The sale is split into two rooms. Mehle says that one room allows people to "name the price" of the books they find. Another room will have individually priced items, the vast majority of which will be listed as less than $5. This year, there will be many kid's books available, which were accrued from the library of the recently closed Lake Superior Elementary school.
Additionally, the Friends of the Library manages a book corner year-round where readers can make a small donation to the library and keep a book.
The sale kicks off Friday morning at 10am. Typically, this event has a line at the door ahead of time. The sale continues on Saturday with hours from 10am-2pm.
You can hear Community Connection every Tuesday and Thursday at 8am on Northland Morning.
