You don't need to follow a dotted line on an old map to find treasures in the Northland, but locating the letter X will still be useful.
The opening reception for The X Show takes place from 6-9pm at Pröve Gallery in downtown Duluth. "It's a group exhibition that features work centered on that symbol... we see X at the center," says Annie Dugan. "It's this really powerful symbol." The gallery also maintains regular hours on Fridays from 4-7pm and Saturdays from 12-4pm.
And if you find yourself further west, the mural outside of Tortoise and Hare Footwear (4002 Grand Avenue in Duluth) is getting an update. For many years, the mural by Tom Napoli has featured a nature-scape of Duluth with a turtle and rabbit showing up in various spots. Now, the mural is evolving, and the two creatures are getting some company. More animals will be added to the scene for viewers to search for and find.
You can hear Where's Art every Monday morning at 8:20 on Northland Morning.
