Back Tracks: Three Music Questions with Ali Sultan

PBS SoCal

Yemeni comedian Ali Sultan is frequently traveling the country and the globe performing stand-up comedy. The Minneapolis-based performer was recently highlighted in the PBS program Roots of Comedy. Ali's episode airs tonight at 10pm on PBS North. To see Ali live, visit his website for tour dates.

As a millennial, Ali never bought an album, but he did receive a mixtape from his uncle/first DJ in Yemen. His first (and only) concert was courtesy of an insurance company. And his guilty pleasure song - for which he feels no guilty - always reminds him of traveling. "It brings me back to that moment of travel and being in a new country for the first time."

Back Tracks receives support from Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union. You can hear Back Tracks every Friday at 8am on Northland Morning.
