Back Tracks: Three Music Questions with Brandon VanWaeyenberghe

Brandon VanWaeyenberghe’s musical career began somewhat inauspiciously when he auditioned for an opera. “Unfortunately, I didn’t get cast as one of the singers," says VanWaeyenberghe, "but I got offered the role – so to speak – of assistant director.” The opportunity turned into a blessing. His subsequent professional track led him to working in music related positions in Charlotte and Houston. For the past three years VanWaeyenberghe has been the Executive Director of the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra.

But don't let that operatic and orchestral history fool you. Along with a first-album answer that we’ve already heard on Back Tracks (a first), VanWaeyenberghe offered up responses that homed in on his Indiana-small-town youth and his love for 90s music. Get ready to roll the windows down, turn the volume up, and jump around.

You can hear Back Tracks every Friday morning at 8am.
