Robbie LaFleur

This Friday at the Nordic Center, Robbie LaFleur presents tapestries that tell the story of Valley Grove church. “The techniques she uses are extraordinary," says Annie Dugan. "I think it's really a fascinating thing to see.” LaFleur is a textile artist who will be at the opening from 5-7pm on September 30th. Throughout the month of October there are many opportunities for additional engagement. Visit the Nordic Center website for more info and events.

This past Saturday saw the opening of a group art exhibition at AICHO Gallery. The work of 26 different visual artists are being coupled with the works of 13 different writers in order to highlight the community that AICHO has developed over the years. "These are incredibly important voices in our community," says Dugan. The exhibition will be up through the end of 2022 and can be viewed between 10am-5pm, Monday through Friday.

There's still one more weekend of Art Along the Lake, a fall studio tour put on by Visit Cook County. Twenty-seven stops at studios and more start in Schroeder, MN. The tour ends at the Grand Portage Heritage Center with a celebration of George Morrison who has been commemorated by the USPS by way of stamps. "It'll be peak fall color and a great excuse to get out and see some art up the North Shore again."
