This week's art scene offers something for the city mouse as well as for the country mouse.
In downtown Duluth Prøve Gallery is hosting an opening reception this Friday from 6-9pm for “Essential” an exhibition by artist Carolyn Olson. Beginning in March of 2020, Olson began creating pastel portraits of essential employees. “Seeing this is just so timely,” says Annie Dugan. “We want to put [the pandemic] behind us, but we also want to process it. I think this exhibition is a really important part of that."
After a taste of the city, head north out of town for the 11th Annual Lake Superior 20/20 Studio Art Tour. Artists and farms will be joining together to share space and show off work. "It’s gonna be a really wonderful celebration of art and where arts are grounded," says Dugan. "I understand the connection of farms and art and I think that our general public is seeing that as well.” The tour takes place this Friday through Sunday.
