Where's Art with Annie Dugan

Annie Dugan shares a couple of art events this week in the Twin Ports:

One River Many Stories will hold a Photography/Photojournalism Skill Session on Tuesday, 1/19 (tomorrow night) at 5:30 pm, at the Lincoln Park Education Center of the Duluth Art Institute (2229 West 2nd St. in Duluth).  Three of our region's top photographers will present their work, their thoughts on composition, ethics, and anything else that comes up. Meet the people behind the photos: Clint Austin of the Duluth News Tribune, Hansi Johnson of outdoor action fame and Ivy Vainio, whose photos reside at Duluth Art Institute and Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Join us for the first of our informal skill sessions to explore the journalism and storytelling resources in our region.

The Duluth Art Institute's 2016 Membership Exhibition opens on Thursday, 1/21 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm in the Great Hall of the Duluth Depot.  DAI members are asked every year to share one piece of art they have made last year. Anyone is welcome and encouraged to become a member to participate in what has become the biggest “show and tell” event of the arts calendar. The exhibition is a wonderful expression of what regional arts is all about – unique voices telling interesting stories through visual arts. There are professionals, emerging artists, hobbyist, and youth participants.

Annie Dugan is the curator of the Duluth Art Institute and our host for Where's Art, Monday mornings on Northland Morning.

Chris Harwood is The North 1033’s Production Director and (acting) Program Director, a morning/daytime host, and the host of Soul Village. He is also a musician, a music historian, an audio engineer, and an avid record collector.
