Women's Words on April 6, 2014 featured Becca Brin Manlove from the woods near Ely, Minnesota, reading two excerpts from her next manuscript, a work-in-progress titled Sweet Dreams, Michael: A Verdant Grief. The second excerpt, a poem titled "Almost Anniversary," is the introduction; an earlier version of this poem closed her recent award-winning memoir Hauling Water: Reflections on Making a Home in the North Woods, published by Raven Productions.

4/6 Women's Words: Becca Brin Manlove
Becca Brin Manlove's kids have mostly forgiven her for being a tree-hugging writer. She continues to make her home in the woods. In the summer, she practices gardening and makes green tomato salsa (short growing season), and the rest of the year she skijors behind Pshycho Mantis.
Many other essays by Becca Brin Manlove have been published in The Ely Summer/Winter Times and are archived online, including Ice Talk, Elyites at the Iditarod, For the Price of an Evening Walk, Watery Questions, and Ely Christmas Parade, among others.
Women's Words airs Sundays at 1:30pm and 3:30pm. Funding for Women's Words is provided by The Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
