Clean Water Land & Legacy Amendment
Legacy Amendment Programs

In 2008, Minnesota voters approved the Arts and Cultural Heritage Amendment to pay for improvements in clean water, environment and natural resources, outdoor heritage, parks and trails, and arts and cultural heritage. Public broadcasters, including Minnesota Public Television Association, Minnesota Public Radio, and Ampers, have received new funding. With these funds, The North 103.3 FM has been able to provide more cultural and artistic programming to the people of Northeastern Minnesota.

The following programs and local event coverage have been made possible by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund:

MN Reads // Thursday 8:20am
A weekly 5-minute program featuring MN authors produced in partnership with The Minnesota Historical Society and The University of Minnesota Press. MN Reads shares the work of Minnesota authors. These books often focus on Minnesota-centric topics, culture, history, settings, and experiences. MN reads offers state-wide connections with a broad geographical range of author roots, topics, and inspirations.

Live from Studio A // Friday afternoons plus additional days
A live 30-minute interview and performance program with MN musicians and bands. Artists share their stories and perform "Live from Studio A" at The North 103.3. "Live From Studio A" talent is often independent and emerging musicians or MN artists from genres underrepresented in a commercial radio play.

Arts & Cultural Events // Dependent on event
The North 103.3 will feature live interviews of participating artists. Events include Duluth Dylan Fest, Bayfront Park Concerts and Festivals, Homegrown Music Festival, Lake Superior Harvest Festival, Park Point Art Fair, John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon, and more. Part of KUMD's coverage of Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage events includes coverage of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon. We provide race reports as well as primers on how to enjoy the race and all things Beargrease related.

Duluth Homegrown Music Festival Coverage // The North 103.3 will provide 8 days of coverage of Duluth's largest local music festival. We will document and share the enormous spectrum of Minnesota music that happens in Duluth's largest and premier annual music event. The North 103.3 coverage will bring the Duluth Homegrown Music Festival with the Northland, greater MN and beyond through photos, blog stories, video, live broadcast recordings and event schedule information all featured on our airwaves, website and social media platforms

The Local // Wednesday, 5-7pm
A weekly two-hour program showcasing Minnesota music with an emphasis on musicians from Duluth and the surrounding area. The show will include some interviews and live performances, an events calendar, and hosts will create web and social media content surrounding local music.
