Return of Kings a No-Show in Duluth; but a Community Rally Held Anyway

©John Doberstein

A group of community members united against rape culture, sex trafficking and misogyny in a rally, march and vigil Saturday night at Duluth's Leif Erickson Park, a gathering that one participant called  "peaceful protestors standing up for all of the amazing women in our lives."

But Return of Kings, a group of men advocating what they call "neomasculinity" canceled their planned meetup that evening in the park.

Return of Kings founder Roosh Valizadeh issued this announcement February 3:

I can no longer guarantee the safety or privacy of the men who want to attend on February 6, especially since most of the meetups can not be made private in time. While I can’t stop men who want to continue meeting in private groups, there will be no official Return Of Kings meetups.

Was the planned meetup the "pro-rape rally" opponents claim or a protest against what some members call "rape culture"?  ("Rape Culture was Manufactured to Wage an Unjust War Against Men," December 23, 2013)

She was a reporter and news anchor at KTHI in Fargo, ND (not to mention the host of a children's program called "Lisa's Lane") and a radio reporter and anchor in Moorhead, Bismarck, Wahpeton and Fergus Falls.Since 1991, she has hosted Northland Morning on KUMD. One of the best parts of her job includes "paying it forward" by mentoring upcoming journalists and broadcasters on the student news team that helps produce Northland Morning. She also loves introducing the different people she meets in her job to one another, helping to forge new "community connections" and partnerships.Lisa has amassed a book collection weighing over two tons, and she enjoys reading, photography, volunteering with Animal Allies Humane Society and fantasizing about farmland. She goes to bed at 8pm, long before her daughter, two cats, or three dogs.
