After seeing the occultation of the moon and Jupiter - and spotting some of the moons of our solar system's largest planet - Bob King is now on the lookout for meteors.
This month, the Orionids will be on display. The meteor shower is the annual result of Earth floating through the debris of Halley's comet. The Orionids will peak on the morning of October 22nd between 3am and dawn. At this time, stargazers can expect to see about 15-20 meteors per hour.
Additionally, the Hunter's Moon (October's full moon) is coming up on the 25th, and the zodiacal light is visible again now through the 23rd.
You can hear Astro Bob's Backyard Astronomy every other Tuesday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
