GRAMMAS BOYFRIEND
When you first read the name Gramma’s Boyfriend, it brings an uncomfortable, funny feeling. But when you first hear Gramma's Boyfriend, the feeling becomes something new, slightly terrifying, and fun. The five members include frontwoman Haley, Jeremy Ylvisaker (Cloak Ox, Alpha Consumer, Andrew Bird), Mark Erickson, (Cloak Ox), Luke Anderson (Rogue Valley), and Jacob Hanson (Actual Wolf, Haley Bonar, All Tomorrow’s Petty), who join forces to create the psychedelic dance punk that is guaranteed to make you move. Think Blondie, Devo, and Suburban Lawns meet Dead Kennedys. But don’t think too much. Gramma’s Boyfriend certainly doesn’t. And that is the whole point.
SUPERIOR SIREN
Superior Siren is an eerie-folk project created by singer-songwriter Laura Sellner. The music offers an alluring yet dangerous expression of vulnerability and desire, with inspiration from Lake Superior and Siren mythology. When Sellner joined forces with cellist Rachel Gobin, bassist Nyssa Krause, and drummer Emma Deaner a sisterhood of sirens was formed. The band haunts stages and crafts a mesmerizing blend of vocals, strings, & percussion. Superior Siren has released two solo EPs, one LP, and is in production of the next full-length album. A recent collaboration with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra influenced the sound Superior Siren will soon evoke.
WATERCAT
Water Cat is a Franco-American duo with a sweet, stompy, and eclectic sound. Consisting of Emma Musto as the lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Henry Bullard, Water Cat can take you from original songs on the resonator guitar to Nirvana on the banjo to Edith Piaf, to West Africa and back. Water Cat will keep you on your toes, off your seat, and with a smile on your face.
