This year's Embarrass Region Fair will include many tried and true events like a car show, the demolition derby, presentations of art and vegetables, a 5k run, magic, and more. From August 28-30, there will be events and activities aplenty in Embarrass, Minnesota.
However, one event that was in the works for this year has been postponed. A world record attempt at the most people tossing boots is now a hopeful activity for the 2027 fair. "It's based off an old Finnish tale where a man was courting a woman," says Jennifer Bakija, marketing volunteer for the Embarrass Region Fair. According to the story, the couple came across a swamp, but only the man had boots on. "He walked across the swamp with his boots on, and then when he got to the other side, he threw the boots back to her."
But even without the boot tossing, visitors to the fair will still have plenty to do and plenty to celebrate. This year's schedule includes at least one new and anticipated event. "Friday is our first ever mullet contest," says Bakija. "Come early to experience that."
