For Vickie Chupurdia, interest in family history began long ago. "I'd go to family reunions and all of the other 20-year-olds would be outside hanging out, and I'd be in the house with all the senior citizens, listening to their stories, asking questions, taking notes," says Chupurdia, a member of the Twin Ports Genealogical Society and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Meeting on the first Monday of most months at 6pm at Mount Royal Library in Duluth, the Twin Ports Genealogical Society works toward sleuthing out the past and piecing together family history. The group has spent significant time cataloguing newspaper obituaries as well as tending to and recording information from cemeteries which is then submitted to the website Find A Grave.
For more information about the organization, visit the Twin Ports Genealogical Society's website. The Society partners with the Duluth Public Library where additional information and resources can be found.
