Author Marie Zhuikov returns to the world of short stories in her newest book The Path of Totality.
Zhuikov, author of novels such as Plover Landing and Eye of the Wolf, had previously produced a book of shorter nonfiction stories called Meander North, based on a series of blog posts she had written. However, she wanted to return to fiction, but in shorter format.
"About 10 years ago I got tired of writing novels and wanted to try short stories," said Zhuikov. "And I liked that I could finish them in a few months versus a few years. I've been working on this collection of stories for about 10 years."
Those years have produced the seven short stories and one novella found in The Path of Totality, a collection of speculative, sometimes bizarre, tales. Readers can find the book at various stores, online, and at the launch party at Wussow's Concert Cafe on Tuesday, February 18th at 6:30pm. The event, hosted by Zenith Bookstore, will include a conversation with Zhuikov and fellow author Carol Dunbar.
Minnesota Reads is produced at The North 103.3 with funding provided in part by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
