"Where there's history there's probably ghosts... and it's not all tragedy, there's a lot of joy that can be found in the past," says Kelly Florence, co-author of the book Travels of Terror.
Ever since their trip to Vancouver, Florence and her friend Meg Hafdahl have had a fascination with locations containing history and stories from people who have existed before us. Travels of Terror was born through just that: two friends road tripping the U.S., seeking out haunted locations and enjoying the best places to shop, eat, and drink.
"We talked to people and found these hidden gems," explains Florence.
Athens, Ohio and Marietta, Georgia have never exactly been hotspots on the haunted map, but that is because few know that these small towns harbor many stories and secrets. The book even features an experience in Portland, Oregon that turned Florence into a believer.
You can pick up a copy of Florence and Hafdahl's book at any local independent bookstore or in stores and online.
