Back Tracks: Three Music Questions with Mary Jo Pehl

Storyteller and comedian Mary Jo Pehl joined up with the crew on Mystery Science Theater 3000 just as the show was beginning its run on Comedy Central. A generation of like-minded folks watched as Pehl's Pearl Forrester tormented the passengers aboard the Satellite of Love with terrible movies.

Before her gig as a comedy writer on a hit TV show, Mary Jo saved her babysitting money to purchase her economically-researched first album. The marquee performer at her first concert was overshadowed by a one-hit wonder that served as the opener. And her secretly-profound guilty pleasure song was accidentally not deleted from a hand-me-down iPod. "Have you ever read the lyrics? The lyrics are kind of deep."

Back Tracks receives support from Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union. You can hear Back Tracks every Friday at 8am on Northland Morning.
