The 2023 John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon has begun! WDSE Director of Content Ashlee Smith talks with The North 1033's Chris Harwood from the starting line. At 10:00, following the spirit of John Beargrease as the first team, team number two led by Colleen Wallin crossed the starting line, followed by 16 other teams. Following the full marathon start, teams in the Beargrease 120 (the mid-distance race), the Junior Beargrease 120, and the Beargrease 40 will begin their races. All told, 60 teams will be on the trail this week.
