The Art for Earth Day Gallery Hop began 29 years ago in honor of the 20th anniversary of Earth Day. Everyone is invited to celebrate with earth-friendly and earth-honoring art, on Saturday April 20, from 10am-5pm in Duluth.
Events are taking place at the Tweed Museum, Duluth Art Institute, Duluth Pottery, AICHO, Canal Park galleries and more. This is a great primer for the 49th Annual Earth Day on Monday, April 22, 2019.

In 1970, Gaylord Nelson, a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin founded Earth Day, driven by a rising public consciousness of environmental concern and galvanized by the giant 1969 oil spill in Santa Barbara, California, now considered the 3rd worst in world history behind Exxon Valdez and Deepwater Horizon. So on April 22, 1970 people across the country took to the streets in protest of bad policies, practices and it led to the creation of the Environmental Protection EPA Today, 49 years later, Earth Day is still a day of raising critical awareness, of raising voices, of celebrating our earth, animals and the environment, and fighting to save our planet from fossil fuels, damage, waste and pollution.

In support of Earth Day, Northland artists invite solidarity and care for the earth and remind us all that active participation in protecting our environment and our planet is not optional.
