Radio Gallery: Dana Fritz

Dana Fritz

The photographs of Professor Dana Fritz in the current Duluth Art Institute Exhibition "Terraria Gigantica: World Under Glass," peer into the complicated world of artificial environments. It is also the name of her recent book. From Biosphere 2, built in the '90s (yes, it still exists) to the worlds largest desert at the Henry Doorly Zoo, her images reflect both the incongruity and the educational and research benefits of these "human-created" natural worlds.

Hear more about the inspiration behind "Terraria Gigantica" from the Dana Fritz, speaking at UMD on Tuesday, March 20 at 6 p.m. at Montegue 70 as a part of the Visual Culture Lecture Series. The public is also invited to join her for a Duluth Art Institute gallery conversation on Wednesday, March 21 at 5:30 p.m.

Terraria Gigantica: World Under Glass is on view at the Duluth Art institute in The Historic Depot in Duluth through April 29, 2018.

Former Program Director, Maija Jenson teaches journalism in the Department of Communication at UMD and was a part of KUMD 2008-2019. She hosted a weekly arts program "Radio Gallery."
