This week a very special holiday celebration opens; It's the 4th Annual Pepperkakerbyen (Gingerbread City) at Norway Hall in downtown Duluth. Every year many kids and volunteers coordinate the building of gingerbread houses, bridges, boats and more to create a snow and icing covered miniature city. Stop by to check out the festive creations and have some hot cider and gingerbread cookies. Started by the Son's of Norway, the tradition of a community pepperkakerbyen, holiday display, it harkens back to Scandinavian traditions surrounding the season. Open at Norway Hall, 23 N Lake Avenue in Duluth through December 14, Saturdays and Sundays, 1-5 p.m.
