5/3: Women's Words - Felicia Schneiderhan

Women's Words on May 3, 2015, featured FeliciaSchneiderhan reading the epilogue to her memoir Newlyweds Afloat: Married Bliss and Mechanical Breakdowns Onboard a Trawler, to be published in the fall of 2015 by Breakaway Books.

Felicia Schneiderhan grew up on the Mississippi River, the daughter of a nun caught by a fisherman. After a childhood in floodwater and cornfields, she moved to Chicago, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in theater and women’s studies from Northwestern University and an MFA in fiction writing from Columbia College Chicago. Her short stories, essays, and poetry appear in many magazines, journals, and anthologies. She is a frequent contributor to Lake Superior Magazine. For two years she lived with her husband Mark onboard the trawler Mazurka in Chicago (yes, even in winter). Their adventures are chronicled in the memoir Newlyweds Afloat: Married Bliss and Mechanical Breakdowns Onboard a Trawler. Felicia now lives (on land) on the northern shore of Lake Superior with Mark and their three small tsunamis. Mazurka is a lot more crowded with a pack-and-play in the salon.
