On this episode of Ojibwe Stories: Gaganoonididaa, we have a conversation with our own host Erik Redix about the 1894 murder of Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe ogimaa (chief) Giishkitawag, also known as Joe White. Redix's new book, The Murder of Joe White: Ojibwe Leadership and Colonialism in Wisconsin was published this September by Michigan State University Press.

Dr. Erik Redix is a member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe. He is an Assistant Professor of American Indian Studies at the University of Minnesota Duluth. He received his Ph.D. in History at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. From 2000-2004, he served as Chair of the Division of Native American Studies at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Community College.
