Ivy Vainio joins the studio to discuss how she began her work in digital photography, how she has used photography to capture cultural events, and the process of her work. Her photos are used for the 12 month calendar Naamijig: Honoring Our Traditions. Naamijig translates to, "The ones who dance." Each photo tells a story about what it means to dance at powows. Vainio discusses the process of meeting dancers, capturing their uniqueness and beauty in action, and the honor of getting the permission to capture the art of the dancers.
