Radio Gallery 06-22-2011: Park Point Art Fair

Jake Kapsner, one of the coordinators for Park Point Art Fair, joins us in the studio this week to talk about how this event is significant to the arts and to the community as a whole. This year is the 41st Annual Park Point Art Fair and takes place June 25-26 at Park Point in Duluth, MN.

Radio Gallery 06-22-2011: Park Point Art Fair

The 41st Annual Park Point Art Fair takes place this summer on June 25-26 from 10am to 5pm at Park Point in Duluth, MN. Radio Gallery speaks with one of the coordinators, Jake Kapsner, about the jurying process, the exciting plans for this year's fair, and how this event contributes to the arts and the community. This year the outdoor festival will include 120 premiere artists from the Midwest and beyond displaying and selling work in media such as clay, fiber, glass, painting, photography, jewelry, woodwork and sculpture. The Park Point Art Fair also provides entertainment such as live music, puppet theatre, and storytelling. The featured musician this year is Mark Monroe who is now in his fourth decade of performing nationally in concert, festival, corporate, and educational settings. The Park Point Art Fair is presented by the Park Point Community Club which is a non-profit volunteer organization that uses proceeds to fund youth programs, environmental restoration and other community based charitable endeavors.

Former Program Director, Maija Jenson teaches journalism in the Department of Communication at UMD and was a part of KUMD 2008-2019. She hosted a weekly arts program "Radio Gallery." She shares a lifetime of public radio listening, degrees in journalism and art and 20 years of public radio experience with KFAI, WHA, WSUM and KUMD.
