North Star Stories is a news program that highlights voices and perspectives from communities across Minnesota. Launched in January 2025, the series was created to address gaps in the state’s news ecosystem by focusing on stories that are often overlooked. Each report is voiced, sourced, and reported by people from the communities being covered, including Black, Latine, Asian American, East African residents, people living with disabilities, LGBTQIA2S plus Minnesotans, laborers, veterans, and individuals from Greater Minnesota.
The program features both daily headlines and weekly in-depth reporting. Coverage ranges from civil rights and public policy to cultural traditions, local economies, and community responses to statewide issues. By centering lived experience and local expertise, North Star Stories offers a more complete picture of life in Minnesota and brings forward stories that reflect the diversity of the state.
North Star Stories is produced by Ampers and distributed across Minnesota.
