Gary Farmer is an actor whose career has spanned over three decades and 100 appearances on TV and in film, including the movies Smoke Signals and Jim Jarmusch's Dead Man. He's also a musician and a pioneer in Native media in both print and as a founder of Canada's Aboriginal Voices Radio Network. The native of the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario stopped by our studios on November 5, 2018, while in Duluth to appear at a 20th Anniversary showing of Smoke Signals. He also gave a talk at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, about the significance of Native media for both Native and non-Native audiences. KUMD's Christine Dean talked with Farmer about all aspects of his career, and he shared tunes from the latest album from his band Gary Farmer & the Troublemakers.

Christine is The North 103.3's Music Director, a host of Music Through the Day, and the producer of Live from Studio A. One of her favorite things about her job is the opportunity to share music from the Twin Ports’ many talented local artists. In her spare time she takes full of advantage of Duluth’s outdoors opportunities.
