UK trio Trailer Trash Tracys are avself-proclaimed "minimal industrial surf" band, mixing dreamy pop vocals on top of nuanced electronic beats and imaginative chord voicing on their debut LP Ester. The resulting sound gives the album a very cinematic feel.By Basement DJ: The Doctor
In fact, the reverb-laden baritone guitar twang
and detached female vocals make it difficult not to think of an Angelo Badalamenti soundtrack to a David Lynch film. Album highlights include the savory guitar on "You Wish You Were Red", the swinging chord progression during the verse of "Los Angered", and the spiraling riffs of "Engelhardt's Arizona" and "Strangling good guys". Ester does sound a bit rough around the edges, but the resonant melodies seal the deal.
