Seattle-based hip hop artist Sadistik has collaborated with Minnesota's Kristoff Krane for their debut album, Prey for Paralysis. Produced by Graham O'Brien, of No Bird Sing, this album will have you wondering why they haven't gotten together before. All three are known for their experimental and boundary pushing music, so it makes sense that they have teamed up together for this album.By Basement DJ: Hannah Maertz
Graham O'Brien is known for his noise rock drum skills, but he is also a skilled producer- the arrangements are perfect. He finds the balance of noise, build up, and silence perfectly for the MC's. He creates an eerie sound for the dark poetic words accompanying it. Sadistik and Kristoff Krane are both known for their elaborate, deep lyrics; they complement each other well on the album. The first single, "Higher Brain", is a somber track with quick and intense lyrics spoken over a choppy piano beat. Sadistik also directed the outstanding music video for it. Overall, Prey for Paralysis delivers on every song, even the musical interludes between tracks. Some critics state that it may the best hip hop album of the year, though its dark and brooding tone may not appeal to everybody. However, it definitely is worth a spin for casual fans. Sadistik and Kristoff Krane have a good thing going here. Their next collaboration will have a lot to live up to.
