Wild Flag unites alt-rock mavericks Mary Timony of Helium, Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss of Sleater-Kinney, and Rebecca Cole of The Minders. Wild Flag's self-titled debut to be a throwback album under a "supergroup" guise.Basement DJ: The Doctor – The track sequencing alternates Timony and Brownstein compositions resulting in a solidly balanced, dynamic LP. Janet Weiss tips her hat to the late Keith Moon as her unbridled percussion propels Brownstein's rollicking post-hardcore rock songs and Timony's psychedelic-leaning arrangements throughout the album while Cole's organ lines fill out the band's clamorous but tasteful sound. The bandmembers sound like they're having the most fun making music that they've had in years; so much so that you may want to listen with caution if you're prone to impromptu air-guitar antics. Wild Flag begins their tour of North America on October 3rd at the Varsity Theatre in Minneapolis.
