Radio Gallery: First Folio

Radio Gallery joins the celebration of the long awaited arrival of The First Folio of Shakespeare.

The Tweed Museum is host of the traveling folio from The Folger Shakespeare Library so you can currently see, in person, the original book that brought us Shakespeare, a posthumous publication of his works.

Thanks to the efforts of the UMD English Department, The Karthryn A. Martin Library and many other partners, UMD is the sole Minnesota stop for this national tour celebrating the 400 year anniversary of the Shakespeare's death .  In a climate controlled glass case, with alarms set to trigger if you touch the glass, this valuable cultural treasure speaks volumes on our shared history.

We hear from Krista Twu, University of Minnesota Duluth Associate Professor of Medieval & Renaissance Literature in the College of Liberal Arts talk about why this folio is so significant and why you might want to stop by the Tweed to see it for yourself.

Shakespeare's First Folio in Duluth  opened with a lecture by Dr. Paul Cannan and a reception at the Tweed Museum of Art on Thursday October 6, 5:30 pm.

The Shakespeare First Folio is on display through October 26 at the UMD Tweed Museum of Art along with Shakespeare related events in the community from plays and films to concerts and talks - every day through October.
