Minnesota Reads on Northland Morning features Minnesota authors talking about their work. On October 24, 2013 we spoke with Rae Katherine Eighmey, author of Soda Shop Salvation: Recipes and Stories from the Sweeter Side of Prohibition. On October 28, 1919, members of the U.S. Senate took the final step in making Prohibition the law of the land. The nation was going dry?and the soda shops were ready. Ms. Eighmey's book contains many historical accounts of the rise of the soda shop, as well as many soda fountain recipes.http://stream.publicbroadcasting.net/production/mp3/national/local-national-1029663.mp3
