Summer in the Northland means incredible live music against the backdrop of Lake Superior. This August, there is a brand-new weekend experience heading to the region, and we want to send you there for free.
The Lake Effect Music Fest, happening August 14–16, 2026, at the iconic Big Top Chautauqua in Bayfield, Wisconsin.
What is the Lake Effect Music Fest?
Nestled at the base of Mt. Ashwabay with stunning views of the lake and the Apostle Islands, this two-day celebration blends incredible independent music with outdoor adventure. The festival features 13 bands performing across two stages, spanning everything from indie and bluegrass to punk rock and folk.
Between sets, you can explore scenic hiking and mountain biking trails, grab food from local trucks, and sample regional craft beers. Best of all? On-site camping under the stars is included with your weekend pass.

We are giving away a pair of 2-Day Passes to the festival. Each pass grants general admission festival access for both days, vehicle parking, and unreserved camping from Friday morning through Sunday afternoon.
The Fine Print: Must be 18 or older to enter. One entry per person. Winners are responsible for their own camping gear and transportation to Bayfield, WI.
