At The North 103.3, we believe that community public radio should be a reflection of the world around us, and the community we call home. Whether you’re listening in your car, at your desk, or on the shores of Lake Superior, we want your midday to be a time of discovery, inspiration, and connection.
Starting February 2nd, we’re introducing a brand-new lineup of shows to our midday schedule and beyond. From the depths of our Great Lakes to the mysteries of deep space, here is what you can look forward to.
Your New Midday Routine (Weekdays at 12:00 PM)
Monday: Great Lakes Odyssey Radio Hour We claim the Great Lakes as our H.O.M.E.S. (Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, and Superior). This show is a multi-national effort to explore our relationship with these "Sweet Water Seas." Since we live on the doorstep of the world’s storehouse of fresh water, there’s no better way to start your week than with stories that honor this great gift of the Ice Age.
Tuesday: A Way with Words Have you ever argued over grammar or wondered where a weird family expression came from? Join author Martha Barnette and linguist Grant Barrett for a lively hour about language, slang, and the origins of the things we say.
Wednesday: The Moth Radio Hour The world’s most beloved storytelling series finds a home on our airwaves. Hear true stories told live on stage, without scripts or notes. It’s an hour of humor, bravery, and the beautiful honesty of the human experience.
Thursday: Big Picture Science Connect science to your daily life in surprising ways. Hosted by Seth Shostak and Molly Bentley of the SETI Institute, this show looks at everything from the recipe for dark matter to the evolution of technology. (Catch the rebroadcast Sundays at 6:00 AM!)
Friday: Filmspotting Get your weekend watchlist ready. Filmspotting offers insightful movie reviews, interviews, and those famous "Top 5" lists that every cinephile loves. It’s the ultimate Friday treat for film lovers in the Twin Ports.
