The universe is constantly in motion. One proof of that; Ursa Major is currently balancing on its posterior. The Big Dipper has rotated in such a way that any water would be spilling all over the horizon. Whether you picture a bear or a ladle when viewing that constellation, things are a bit topsy-turvy.

Astronomers are currently on high alert for aurora. "There's a really monster sunspot group coming around the east side of the sun," says Bob King. Though unpredictable, the conditions for Northern Lights are primed for a good show in the near future.

And if you're looking for a bit of cosmic romance, look to the crescent moon on the night of February 14th to see the moon and Jupiter flirting. They'll be in near conjunction on Valentine's Day.

You can hear Astro Bob's Backyard Astronomy every other Tuesday at 8:20am on Northland Morning.
