Nordic Center of Duluth

For 20 years, the Nordic Folk Music Festival called Nisswa home. On June 9th, the festival finds a new home in Duluth. "We're calling it Duluth Stämman," says organizer Clif Nesseth. "There's a traditional of calling it after the place it's in."

The festival will include lots of music and several opportunities for dance. Events begin on Friday night with a welcome dance. Saturday brings performances, workshops, concerts, and more dancing. "It kind of grew a little bit beyond what I expected it to," says Nesseth. "The community that has sustained the festival over the years was really hungry to get back together... it's high time to get together and have a stämma."

Talent includes local musicians as well as talent from overseas; Denmark and the Shetland Island will be represented at the first Duluth Stämma.

The event runs from June 9th through the 10th. Tickets and more information can be found on the Duluth Stämman website.
