Annie remembers people in the Northland art community who passed away this year.

Annie remembers a couple of people in the Northland art community who passed away in late 2021:

  • Dr. Karissa White Isaacs, a tribal member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Ojibwe in Wisconsin, a curator for the Tweed Museum of Art at the University of Minnesota Duluth, and a passionate supporter of Native American art.
  • Terry Millikan, a regional artist whose oil paintings were known for their effusive color and joyful expression.

Also, there is an open call for local artists to submit 2023/2024 exhibition proposals to the Duluth Art Institute. There are resources in the area to help artists hone their artist’s statement and proposals, and submissions are accepted from January 1 to February 14, 2022.
