The Prove Gallery is hosting a special exhibition about George Bonga, the first non-native born in Duluth in 1802. The series is titled "Bigger than Paul Bunyan: The Life and Times of George Bonga" by artist Chavis Harrell. Banga was an Ojibwe and black man who was a jack of all trades and is mostly forgotten from history, but through different mediums, Harrell brings Bonga back to life. This series is opening February 2 and will be on display until March at the Prove Gallery in Duluth.
Additionally, the Arrowhead Biannual at the Tweed Museum is coming to a close. According to Annie Dugan this show discusses "what is in our art zeitgeist in out upper Midwest area ad celebrates regional artists." If you want one last look at the art that connects us, the Tweed welcomes you on February 3 at noon for the closing ceremony.
