"There is something of interest out there to be seen every day," says Larry Weber. In these silent January days, often the only thing to be heard is the cracking of the snow beneath your feet. The stark difference between the beginning of this January and the end has created many changes in the habits of both animals and people.
But not all animals curl up and wait for warmer weather. The cold has helped to highlight some of the heartier creatures. Weber spotted the tracks of a skunk that came all the way up to his porch, and even during this cold snap, crows and ravens have continued their business with seemingly no complaints. "It's one of the most amazing things," says Weber. "Fifteen below, take a walk; the crows and ravens are still there."
On the human side, two NFL football games were affected by the severe weather. A game in Kansas City started off with the temperature dropping to -4 degrees, and a game in Buffalo had to be postponed due to a snowstorm. In the words of Larry, "Mother Nature tackled the football season."
