The holiday season is getting into full swing. For many, this means gift giving. "There's more and more people in our lives that garden," says Tom Kasper. "You can buy gifts for gardeners that are anything from a few dollars on up."

Trowel shovels, plant tags, hand pruners and more can make for great stocking stuffers. "And of course, nothing says 'Happy Holidays' like a big number two shovel under the Christmas tree," says Kasper with a laugh. If you do buy a shovel for your gardening friend, prepare yourself for a wrapping challenge.

Any of these tools might make for a great gift, but Kasper has a far more meaningful idea in mind. "Give the gift of your time." For some, setting a day on the calendar (perhaps in the springtime) will be the most impactful present to offer. And as loved ones age, gardening can become more difficult. "Sharing that time... on a one-to-one scale; there are few things more intimate... than gardening together."
