"It's a little bit surreal, because it feels like I just started yesterday." Music Director Dirk Meyer is on the brink of starting his tenth season with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra. The coming season will be a celebration of musician and audience favorites alike.
The season begins on Saturday, September 16th with a visit from Orion Weiss, a pianist who performed with the DSSO during the first concert with Meyer conducting. The season as a whole will pay special attention to female composers. Meyers notes that in the first 90 years of the DSSO, only about ten performed pieces were from female composers. "We're righting this wrong," says Meyer. "The first concert this Saturday actually already has two pieces by female composers."
