Conversation surrounding climate change is so vast that the nuances of its impact can often go overlooked. This year's Our Climate Futures conference at the University of Minnesota Duluth takes on the specific and important topic of equity and inclusion amid our changing planet.
"The effects of climate change are just not going to be felt equally," says organizer Julie Etterson. "Our goal... is to initiate conversations around climate justice." The two-day conference is free, open to the public, and will include several presentations, conversations, and workshops. Participants can drop by for any and all of the offered events.
Environmental activist August Ball will be in attendance for a training as well as a keynote speech at 7pm on the evening of the 24th in the Marshall Performing Arts Center. "Something that August does... is centering folks of color and getting them into environmental jobs," says organizer Jonna Korpi. The keynote is free, but space will be limited. Potential attendees are encouraged to get tickets ahead of time.
