"No Mow May" is an idea that can help provide a needed food source.

The City Council of the City of Superior passed a No Mow May Resolution on April 19.
"[Superior] Parks and some City managed spaces will be left un-mowed during the month of May to help our pollinators survive and thrive."

Tom Kasper thinks this is a good idea for all of us to consider and encourages us to think beyond the 20th century model of the "perfect" lawn. Dandelions are quite useful for pollinators, and dandelion greens are good food source for humans as well. Further, you might consider leaving a part of your lawn un-mowed for the entire summer, providing not only food, but also habitat for wildlife that thrives in taller grasses.
