There are different viewpoints on what constitutes a long song. When it comes to writing, Bob Dylan has spun some long yarns like the 11 verse "Hurricane" or 10 verses of Desolation Row. Never have they seemed so long as when written out, by hand, stenciled in 2 inch type. "Some of his longer songs are 27 feet long" says installation artist Skye.
Hosting a number of exhibits in Duluth this month is Duluth Dylan Fest, happening May 19-27. A Dylan memorabilia exhibit at Karpeles Manuscript Library is open May 19-June 29, the collective Visions of Duluth Art Show at Zeitgeist, May 20-27 and a large scale installation at The Depot called "Shakespeare’s in the Alley: A Tribute to Bob Dylan" May 21-29.
The public is invited to the opening celebration of "Shakespeare's in the Alley" in The Great Hall at The Depot on Wednesday, May 23 at 5:30 p.m. The Depot is located at 506 W Michigan St in Duluth, MN.
