Women's Words on March 1, 2015 featured Christie Gove-Berg of Forest Lake, Minnesota reading her children's story, Esther the Eaglet: A True Story of Rescue and Rehabilitation.
Christie Gove-Berg lives in Forest Lake, Minnesota and writes fiction and poetry. She spends her days treating patients as a family medicine physician, and she spends her free time with her family. For Esther the Eaglet, Christie worked closely with the Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota, an experience both educational and inspiring. A portion of the profits for each book will go to the Raptor Center. This is Christie's first children's book.
Her project began back in 2008, when an eaglet fell from its nest near her parents' home in Osceola, Wisc. Gove-Berg's mom and dad found the eaglet hopping along the forest floor, so they called the Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota. The Raptor Center rehabilitated the injured bird and later released it back into the wild. Gove-Berg felt so inspired by the eaglet that she wrote a children's book about its adventure.
