Ojibwe Concert Special

KUMD shared an concert on Thanksgiving with Native American musicians Sonny Johnson and Annie Humphrey in an evening of  Minnesota music and stories of shared traditions. The KUMD event Ojibwe Then & Now included a full day of events celebrating Ojibwe tradition and bringing it forward, from the youth of Remer schools performing at the traditional walleye feast  to this evening concert at Weber Music Hall. This event was supported by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund and by Native Lives Matter.

Chris Harwood is The North 1033’s Production Director and (acting) Program Director, a morning/daytime host, and the host of Soul Village. He is also a musician, a music historian, an audio engineer, and an avid record collector.
Former Program Director, Maija Jenson teaches journalism in the Department of Communication at UMD and was a part of KUMD 2008-2019. She hosted a weekly arts program "Radio Gallery." She shares a lifetime of public radio listening, degrees in journalism and art and 20 years of public radio experience with KFAI, WHA, WSUM and KUMD.
